Modern Greek Novice Beginner II

8 weeks of live online group Greek language classes (one 1.5 hour session per week) - 12 hours of instruction, and additional homework review and support from instructors in between class sessions. This class is the next level after Novice Beginner I. This class is part of the 1st year of our Greek Program, which brings students to A1 Modern Greek CEFR competency. Grammar covered in this class includes an introduction to the Greek Past Continuous (1st and 2nd verb conjugation) and the Greek Simple Past tense (Aorist) (1st and 2nd conjugation verbs), as well as Greek irregular verbs (τρώω, λέω, ακούω) and Greek auxiliary verbs: πρέπει (must), μπορώ (can). Students will also learn the Greek Subjunctive, Greek Simple Future tense, verbs ending in -ομαι (έρχομαι, χρειάζομαι, βρίσκομαι), and Greek demonstrative pronouns (αυτός, αυτή, αυτό – εκείνος, εκείνη, εκείνο). Finally, this class covers Greek adverbs of place, greek adjectives and gender agreement. Vocabulary covered includes rooms of the house, fruits and vegetables, food, supermarket, theatre and cinema, and travel in Greek. Speaking skills acquired will include ordering food in a restaurant and asking for the bill, talking about a trip or excursion (past actions), and talking about future (what I will do tomorrow) in Greek. New writing skills will enable students to form Greek sentences using different tenses.
