Organization Description: The Turkish Program is a language program that offers accessible Turkish Language classes online and in-person, under the Halbuki Linguist Cooperative. Location: In-person in San Francisco Bay Area (Oakland or San Francisco, exact location TBD).
Position Overview
The Turkish Program, headquartered in California, has been teaching Turkish to English-speaking adults as a second language for over 4 years now. We are seeking to hire Turkish Language Teachers to teach in person in the San Francisco Bay Area. The ideal candidate will have a background in language pedagogy, linguistics, and fluency in both Turkish and English, and experience teaching Turkish as second language to Adults. The instructors needs to be available to teach afternoons and evenings from 3:30PM 7:00PM US West Coast Time on week days.
Benefits and Compensation. We offer generous hourly pay for teaching hours, more than double that of competitors, but cannot offer other benefits at this time. The Turkish Program is staffed with highly experienced Turkish Linguists and this role will offer valuable career training, as well as the opportunity to be part of an exciting linguist cooperative with talented and passionate peers.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging, interactive Turkish language lessons to students of various proficiency levels.
Adapt lesson plans to suit students’ needs, learning styles, and goals.
Communicate with the Program administrators about scheduling, and student progress.
Incorporate cultural elements into lessons to deepen students’ understanding of Turkish culture and traditions.
Create a supportive and motivating classroom environment that encourages student participation and learning.
Collaborate with the program director and other instructors to align teaching methods and curriculum goals and prepare for lessons.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Turkish, Linguistics, Education, or a related field preferred.
Language Proficiency: Native or near native fluency in Turkish and working proficiency in English is mandatory.
Teaching Experience:
Mandatory: Experience teaching Turkish as a foreign language.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to adapt lessons to meet the needs of diverse learners.
